A loan helped to buy equipment and school supplies to open an Infant Toddler Center.

Sindy's story

My name is Sindy. I graduated from Diablo Valley College with a major in Early Childhood Education. After working 8 years in the Early Childhood Education field, I am ready to open my own Infant/toddler center. My idea of being a business owner came when I started to look for daycares for my daughter.

I came to the USA when I was in my twenties. Many years later, I got married and my daughter was born. After one year of being at home with my baby, I decided I was ready to invest my time in my Education to have better job opportunities. I enrolled in the community college at DVC and took some ESL classes to improve my English skills. At that time, my daughter was eleven months old and if I wanted to return to the school I would need to find a good daycare for her. I started my search, but most daycares accept children from two years old to five years old. I realized that having few infant child care options create an obstacle for moms to return to the workforce or continue with their education.

Based on my experience as a mom, I decided to take Early Childhood Education, Infant/Toddler classes, and work in the ECE field for a couple of years to gain experience. Now, I am ready to open my own business and start my new journey. My mission is to provide high-quality care where infants and toddlers have the opportunity to develop their full potential through play, exploration, and interaction with adults. Also, it creates an environment of trust where families feel comfortable and happy to leave their little ones in my program.
