A loan helped to purchase building materials and pay for the restoration of electricity for her fish-selling business.

Siteri's story

Siteri received a loan earlier through kind lenders on Kiva that enabled her to start a business selling fish from her home to support her five children. Not long after, Tropical Cyclone Yasa hit Fiji, damaging her family house and many of their belongings in the process.

As a mother, it hurts Siteri to see what her children have to go through - living with relatives temporarily, having lost all their school books, bags, sandals, and uniforms, living without clean and safe water, and facing many other obstacles. But this hardworking mother is not willing to sit around and do nothing while waiting for assistance that she had been promised weeks ago. She would like to ask for your assistance once again, for the sake of her children.

She wishes to repair their home as soon as possible so that they can all move back in together and also pay for the restoration of electricity to their home as she needs it to run to operate her freezer that facilitates her fish-selling business and also to purchase more fish as well.

The sooner she starts her business, the faster she can provide things that her family has lost in the floods, especially for her children so that they can continue their education happily.
