A loan helped to buy harvested kava plants to supply the local markets, to pay labourers to plant kava, and also purchase a grog pounder, scale and packaging items.

Fulori's story

Nabukavesi is surrounded by lush greenery and very fertile land suitable for agriculture. The climate in the area is well-suited for kava cultivation. Kava is the traditional beverage enjoyed by Fijians of every race. It has since become a social drink and is the choice of many because of its euphoric and anti-anxiety effects.

Fulori, a mother of two, hopes to enter into the kava business as a supplier. She has noticed the growing number of unemployed youths in her village and hopes to employ the young men to plant large farms of kava. In the meantime however, she plans to buy the harvested crops from farmers to supply to the market vendors. She intends to buy a grog pounder, a large scale, and packaging items.

Fulori is enthusiastic about her business prospects, as the demand is steady and unchanging locally.
