A loan helped to purchase retail goods to stock up her shop to provide for her customers and increase her income.

Leiser's story

Leiser is a 59-year-old mother of one. Her daughter is grown and has her own family. Leiser lives with her unemployed husband in their own home located in a village along the southern coastline of Efate island. Leiser’s community is quite large, and the main industry is tourism. During this Covid-19 pandemic, Vanuatu’s tourism industry has been massively affected, making it hard to earn a steady income.

Leiser has requested a loan to purchase retail goods so she can stock up her shop and better provide for her valuable customers. She started her shop back in 2017 with the help of her husband. With the added stock she will increase her revenue, which she will use to renovate her home and build home units to earn extra income.

This is Leiser's fourth loan with South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd. She has successfully repaid her prior loans on time. Through her loans, Leiser is motivated to expand her business so she can become a successful businesswoman.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
