A loan helped buying a motorcycle.

Duncan's story

Duncan K. K. is thirty-two years old, married, and has a son seven years old. His business is located at a busy market called Kimbo in Thika. Thika is the region in Kenya known for production of pineapples.

Duncan K. K. has been providing 'boda boda' (motorcycle) transport to the local people. He has been doing this business for the last five years now and has one employee. He says that this business is profitable and the major challenge he has is during the rainy seasons when the roads become impassable and the rains also lead to high costs of maintaining the motorcycles. However, he works very hard from early morning to late evening to keep his business doing well.

He is using his loan of Kes 20,000 to buy a motorcycle to expand his business. He hopes to be a market leader in the transport business and he sees himself owning a fleet of vehicles to provide transport to the people of Thika. He describes himself as very hard-working.
