Korotoumou, shown holding onto the ram in the photo, is a 49-year-old Malian and the mother of five children. Besides her household chores, she has raised animals for six years with her husband's help. Because she didn't have sufficient funds to grow her animal-farming business, she turned to the MFI RMCR for her main source of revenue.
Korotoumou buys the animals in her village, which has a large animal market. She takes good care of her rams with the help of a veterinarian. In addition, she sells to potential buyers to avoid late loan repayments to the lender. She can get at least 55,000 FCFA in income from the sale each cycle. The income from the sale allows her to pay for clothing for the children, school fees, health care and food.
Lastly, she hopes to have more financing to attract other women to this job opportunity.
