A loan helped to purchase farm inputs such as nutrient-rich fertilizer and certified seeds to boost her yield and improve her sales.

Nancy's story

Wonderful people, meet Nancy (27-year-old mom of two school-going children), a woman who has had to pass through a series of failures in her life but has overcome the ups and downs. Having been raised in a poor rural home, she was never lucky enough to secure admission to a higher learning institution. However, she learned farming skills from her parents, and she is a dairy and crop farmer.

Access to modern-quality seeds and fertilizer is the key ingredient to agricultural success. But in Kenya, a developing and third-world country, the government's allocation of fertilizer and seed is way below the needs of farmers. There has been a significant improvement in input availability since Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, ventured in the affairs of smallholder farmers in Kenya. The farmers can attest to this improvement.

Nancy is requesting a loan to buy farm inputs such as certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers. Your loan will enable her to improve production through the use of quality farm inputs. Nancy hopes to generate more income to repay the loan debt and improve her family's quality of life, including educating her children. She also hopes to improve the conditions of her household.
