Ana Joaquina T. is a 22 year-old woman who lives with her husband in a community called Santa Fe, located in Los Chiles, in the Alajuela province. This community is in a mountainous area, located very close to the northern border of our country. The main economic activities there are agriculture and livestock production, particularly the cultivation of staple grains, sugarcane and oranges.
For a number of years her family has worked in livestock production. A short time ago they acquired some new land, which they are thinking of developing for their business.
Now Ana wishes to take a loan of ¢605.000 (six hundred five thousand colones), to buy seeds for pasture grass and the materials necessary to condition the land optimally for use in livestock production. This will help her to improve her business and generate the income needed so that they can build their own house.
Ana is a member of the communal bank "Manantial de Santa Fe," one of the 100 organizations that are part of EDESA in Costa Rica. This will be their first loan, and with it they hope to see growth at the personal and economic levels. She is very grateful for the access to credit provided through these types of organizations.
