A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as hybrid seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers to increase her yields and get a bumper harvest to sell, which will improve her living standard.

Evarline's story

Evarline is a 32-year old mother of three children living in Elsama Ravine, a town that hosts a number of elite athletes in Kenya. She is a mixed farmer who has farmed for the last 15 years. Like many other farmers in the region, she has been planting maize as a staple crop. Over time, the fertility of her land has started to dwindle, and the maize yields go down with each season. Evarline’s farm has also been affected by weeds.

In the modern world, agriculture has become exceedingly dynamic, making the kind of inputs that are being used in the sector today advanced. On this note, there is a need to use improved farming inputs for effective production. Today, Evarline is requesting a loan from Juhudi Kilimo via Kiva lenders to buy farm inputs such as hybrid seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers to improve her farm's output.

With this loan, she will increase her crop production and this will improve her income. This loan will help her in this time when the world is facing a common global pandemic.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
