A loan helped to buy different varieties of cereals such as lentils, cow peas, sorghum, rice, wheat, barley and millet to resell and use the profits for her children's tuition fees.

Florence's story

Florence is a 30-year old mother of two children living in Thika, a remote area located on a gentle plain before the ascent into the central highlands of Kenya. Most people who live in this area are smallholder farmers. Florence has been practicing farming on a small inherited piece of land for the past seven years. Her primary sources of income are milk, eggs, and crops. She also engages in a small business to supplement the meager income she earns through farming.

Although she has been making profits from farming, she has identified a market segment for selling cereals. The only big challenge she faces is the lack of funds. She is requesting a loan to buy cereals. She intends to buy different varieties of cereals such as lentils, cowpeas, maize, sorghum, rice, wheat, barley, and millet to sell in the local market.

The market for the cereals is never a problem because the demand is always high and she plans to take advantage of that. Because of the good relationship Florence has with her neighbors, she plans to increase her market by using word of mouth to reach more customers and markets. She will use the profits to pay tuition fees for her children, who are starting school this month. You can help this woman achieve her dreams with this loan, which will surely bring big profits.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
