A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize.

Rosemary's Group's story

Rosemary, pictured above, has been a farmer for more than 20 years and is now proud to represent her group of 6 farmers in Alego District. She is 40 years old, married and has 2 children.

Rosemary likes to think of herself as a very hardworking individual. She has been working alongside One Acre Fund since 2018 and decided to represent her group because she wanted to help more farmers.

She says that being part of the One Acre Fund community has meant that she has been able to consistently feed her family. Rosemary plans to use the profits from this coming season to send her children to school.

In total, Rosemary’s Group will receive inputs to cultivate 1.75 acres of land. Given that a member of the group will also be purchasing a solar light, with this loan, the group will also receive 1 solar light.

In this group: Rosemary, Beatrice, Lilian, Rose, Elizabeth, Paul

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
