A loan helped to buy groceries in bulk.

Mary's story

Mary is widowed and the mother of seven children, some of whom are still in school while others are out of school and working. The fifty-four year old businesswoman lost her husband some years ago and has since been the sole provider for the family. Her children are between the ages of thirty – two and twenty. Some of the grown-ups are married and live with their spouses.

Mary lives with the younger ones in a rented apartment in her community. The hard-working widow delights in sales and has been a merchant for the past thirty-five years. She sells groceries and other food items such as cooking oil, rice, spices, etc.

It is Mary’s dream to increase her profit margin and be able to give her younger children the best education she can afford.
