A loan helped to help buy more meat to sell.

Joel's story

Joel is a 55-year-old hardworking businessman. With his income from his business, he fully supports his two children and wife, who is a farmer by profession. Joel runs two butcheries in the food market at his home. He has employed a couple of people to run the butcheries with him. He wants to continue increasing his stock before he takes on another butchery.

Joel will use the money you lend him to buy more cow meat. He will divide the meat equally among his butcheries and sell it. He has taken a loan from Kiva’s Kenyan field partner, ECLOF Kenya, to build his second butchery. He has been paying on time and he says he will continue to do so. He works hard to make sure his family can enjoy their lives to the fullest.
