A loan helped to invest in expanding the business.

Lolita's story

Lolita G. is from the village of Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City. She is 58 years old, married and has five adult children. To make a living, Lolita owns and operates a sari-sari (variety) retail shop. While not the only means for generating revenue, the main source of income for the business comes from selling both food and daily use products in the local community. Lolita has been engaged in her business for over five years and earns approximately 11000 PHP a month from these activities.

In 2007, Lolita joined HSPFI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. She has successfully repaid a previous loan of 15000 PHP from HSPFI. This previous loan was used to purchase additional products to sell. Lolita is requesting a new loan of 17000 PHP which will be used to invest in expanding the business. This loan will be the sixth loan she has taken out from HSPFI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated to improve/expand her business.
