Zulufa's story

Zulufa is 22 years old and lives in the town of Ggaba in the Makindye region of Uganda. She is Married and has 2 children with 1 of them currently in school. For the past 2 years, Zulufa has been working hard to manage her catering, which sells fried Irish potatoes.

To help expand her business, Zulufa has requested a loan of 1,000,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy Irish potatoes, cooking oil, and will help Zulufa to generate greater profits and business will expand hence more profits. Zulufa will be able to cater for her home and children's needs, thereby improving on their standards of living.

Zulufa hopes that in the future she will be able to buy land and build rentals.

Zulufa is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
