A loan helped to buy more clothes to sell.


Bridget's story

Bridget is 21 years old and lives in the town of Kasese in the Kasese region of Uganda. She is married and has two children with one of them currently in school. For the past two years, Bridget has been working hard to manage her clothing business which sells clothes like dresses, skirts.

To help expand her business, Bridget has requested a loan of 600,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more clothes to sell and will help Bridget to generate greater profits. Bridget's business will expand, hence more profits. She will be able to support her family and children, thereby improving on their standard of living. Bridget hopes that in the future she will be able to construct a residential house.

Bridget is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.
