A loan helped to buy more clothes to sell.

Swabrah's story

Swabrah is 20 years old and lives in the town of Kabuusu in the Makindye region of Uganda. For the past 2 years, Swabrah has been working hard to manage her clothing business, which sells men's shirts, African wear, and ladies' clothes.

To help expand her business, Swabrah has requested a loan of 500,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more clothes to sell and help Swabrah to generate greater profits. With more profits, she will be able to support her family and improve their standard of living. Swabrah hopes that in the future she will be able to open a boutique.

Swabrah is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.

This loan is special because:

It offers training programs in life skills for young women.
