A loan helped to purchase groceries in wholesale quantities and meet customer demand.

Nafisatu's story

Nafisatu is a 32-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her husband and four children in the Yendi Municipality of Ghana. Nafisatu runs her own grocery business. Nafisatu is requesting a Kiva loan to purchase the groceries in wholesale quantities and meet customer demand. She will use the profit she earns to pay school fees for her children and cater to her family’s basic needs.

Nafisatu will repay the ‘social interest’ on this loan by volunteering two and half hours per week as a CAMFED Peer Educator, leading life skills sessions for students in local schools on topics such as rights and choices, choosing a career path and active citizenship.

This loan is special because:

It provides 0% interest loans to entrepreneurs that give back to their community by mentoring.
