Aidah's group is comprised of 2 hardworking women. Aidah is 17 years old and lives in the town of Kibuli in the Makindye region of Uganda. For the past year, Aidah has been working hard to manage her fruits & vegetables business, which sells passion fruits.
To help expand her business, Aidah has requested a share of 2,200,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more passion fruits to sell, and will help Aidah to generate greater profits. Aidah will be able realize more profits from expanded business. She will be able to cater to her family's needs, hence, improving their standards of living. Aidah hopes that in the future she will be able to own a wholesale shop.
Aidah is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to micro-finance loans, the program provides both as a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and as a forum for life-skills training.
