This group is composed of 29 woman who share strong ties of solidarity and mutual assistance. The women live in the same neighborhood and have jumped at the chance to join the 'banc villageois' when it was set up in town in July 2018. Their main work involves small-scale commerce.
Ms. Salma (standing at the far right in the photo with a hand raised) is the group's representative and does commerce in vegetables. She enjoys experience in this business for having operated it for several years. She is 45, married, and the mother of four boys and three girls.
With this loan, she envisions buying sacks of cabbages, carrots, eggplants, and cassava at the central market to sell retail in her neighborhood.
With the profits, she is going to bolster her savings, support her children, and help her husband with the house.
