Korodina's Group is comprised of two hardworking women. Korodina is 23 years old and lives in the town of Kasambya in the Kisekende region of Uganda. She is married and has four children, with one of them currently in school.
For the past three years, Korodina has been working hard to manage her food stall, which sells groundnuts, silver fish and green bananas.
To help expand her business, Korodina has requested a share of 900,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy green bananas and silver fish to sell, and will help Korodina to generate greater profits.
Korodina will realize more profits from the expanded business. She will be in a position to pay home bills and school fees for her children, hence improve on her standards of living.
Korodina hopes that in the future she will be able to start rearing cattle.
Korodina is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.
