A loan helped a member to buy milk cans.

Amina's Group's story

Amina's group is comprised of 3 hard working women. Amina is 16 years old and lives in the town of Pallisa in the Iganga region of Uganda. She has one child. For the past 1 year, Amina has been working hard to manage her milk business, which sells milk and ghee.

To help expand her business, Amina has requested a share of 1,700,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy milk cans, and will help Amina to generate greater profits as her business will expand.

With more profits, Amina will be able to cater for her family's needs and pay school fees for her child thereby improving their standards of living.

Amina hopes that in the future she will be able to construct a residential house.

Amina is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.
