Adwoa's story

Adwoa is thirty-five years old. She is divorced and has given birth to two children, both of whom are in school. She lives with her children in a rented apartment in a fishing community in the central region of Ghana. Adwoa works hard to be able to provide for her family. She is a trader; she trades in maize. She supplies the maize to food vendors in her community. She also treks to nearby towns to supply vendors there. Adwoa buys bags of maize from nearby farming communities. She has been in business for five years and wants a loan to procure bags of maize in bulk to expand her business.
