A loan helped to buy a water tank to harvest rainwater that normally goes to waste during the rainy season.

Gladys's story

Gladys is a hardworking farmer from a remote village in the Bomet area of Kenya. Thanks to her daily efforts, she's given her children a good start by providing them with quality education. Gladys has a farm where she grows crops and raises livestock. She also earns some income from a personal business.

The Bomet area is favorable for farming, but the major problem is unreliable rainfall. Gladys wants to change this, and she's requesting a loan to buy a water tank. The tank will enable her to harvest the rainwater that otherwise would go to waste during rainy seasons. Through this loan her farm will be assured of constant irrigation and hence increased productivity.

Gladys is always working to improve her family’s living conditions. Her biggest dreams are to become independent and support her family by herself, to secure her children’s future and to buy a home.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals and farming equipment.
