A loan helped to stock more fashionable kids' and ladies' clothing.

Bonitah's story

Bonitah is 18 years old and lives in the town of Isingiro in the Mbarara region of Uganda. For the past 2 years, Bonitah has been working hard to manage her boutique, which sells all kinds of clothing.

To help expand her business, Bonitah has requested a loan of 1,250,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to stock more fashionable kids' and ladies' clothing and will help Bonitah to generate greater profits. The greater profits from her expanded business will enable Benitah to afford the basic needs of life and buy a new place in which to expand her business. Bonitah hopes that in the future she will be able to open up a big wholesale shop that will supply all kinds of clothes.

Bonitah is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.
