Kisa Kya Maria-Kibutu Farmers Group's story

This is Kisa Kya Maria group located in Kibutu-Mpigi district. It consists of members who engage in different economic activities with a common goal of poverty eradication.

Joyce, aged 49, is married with 4 children who attend school. She grew up in a large family which made education nearly impossible. Her parents struggled to pay school fees for all their children; unfortunately, they dropped out of school after their ordinary level. Joyce joined a technical institute where she studied cookery. After school, she got a job in a restaurant, where she worked for eight years.

She kept on saving with a bigger dream of starting her own business which she did four years ago and the rest is history. She majors in soft drinks. With the income she gets from this business, she helps her husband with family expenses and children's school fees.

She has applied for a loan through the group to buy more soft drinks so that she can get more profits. She is confident that with increased capital, her sales will increase especially in this coming season which will bring in more income. She appreciates the funders for the support that will boost her business as well as transform her economically.

The extra member standing on the extreme left is the group chairperson who did not have a need for the loan apparently but signed the waiver form and of course signed for the clients being the group chairperson.
