A loan helped to stock more shirts, blouses and trousers for the clients.

Dinavence's story

Dinavence is 21 years old and lives in the town of Rubirizi in the Kabwohe region of Uganda. She is single and has one child, who is currently in school. For the past three years, Dinavence has been working hard to manage her clothing sales business, where she sells shirts, blouses and trousers to earn her living.

To help expand her business, Dinavence has requested a loan of 1,200,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to stock more shirts, blouses and trousers for the clients, and will help Dinavence to generate greater profits.

Her business will expand; hence, she will earn more profits. Dinavence will be able to afford more basic needs and clothing and support her child, thereby improving their standard of living.

Dinavence hopes that in the future, she will be able to buy her own piece of land and construct a family house, and also go back to school and finish her studies.

Dinavence is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.

This loan is special because:

It offers training programs in life skills for young women.
