A loan helped a member to restock more basic commodities.

Celz Group's story

Joanita is a 41-year-old mother of two school-going children. She lives in Musana Village, which is a few kilometers from Harare. Her husband is unemployed, so she is the breadwinner. She has a small grocery shop that brings income for day-to-day use.

Joanita specializes in selling basic commodities such as flour, sugar and cooking oil. She restocks from Harare on a weekly basis. With the intention of satisfying all of her customers' needs by having a variety of products, Joanita joined Thrive Microfinance with four other ladies from her community and formed a group called Celz. The group got a loan and business training. Joanita used her share to restock basic commodities for her shop and also start a bale-selling business in her shop.
