William C. is 38 years old and married to Francisca Kipkorir. They are blessed with three children: Naomi Jelagat (five years old, in the top class), Timothy Kiprotich (two years old), and baby Dennis Kiptoo (five months old).

William runs a mini wholesale shop in Kabarnet town. He started this business three years ago, and now earns a monthly profit of 12,000 KES. This loan is William’s second loan from Kiva partner, KADET, and with it he plans to restock his wholesale shop in anticipation of the busy festive season of December.

The items William plans to buy are: wheat flour for 16,000 KES, rice for 15,000 KES, sugar for 8,000 KES, bar soap for 2,000 KES, sweets for 1,000 KES, cooking fat for 5,000 KES, washing powder (Omo and Sunshine) for 4,000 KES, toilet soap for 1,500 KES, washing detergents (Jik and Softa) for 2,500 KES, and cutlery for 20,000 KES. He will use the remaining money for transport.

William’s customers are residents of Kabarnet town. William believes that this loan will boost his business, and he plans to expand the business into a supermarket one day. William's dreams are to educate his children to the extent they wish, and to buy a plot of land within the town in order to build a structure for his business. (He currently rents the premises he uses at the moment.)

William describes himself as hardworking, optimistic and resourceful, and this is evident by his progress as a businessman. He started as a humble hawker of items, grew to become a retailer, and currently operates as a wholesaler.
