A loan helped a member to add more stock in her shop.

Omega Development Group Ggaba's story

In the outskirts of Kampala, there is Omega Development Group Ggaba. It consists of women who do various economic activities with a common goal of poverty eradication.

Gorreti (second on the right), aged 32, is a single mother of one child, who attends school. Her main source of income is a retail shop located in Kampala outskirts, a business she started a few years back to fend for her child. Gorreti says that her sales are limited due to the inadequate stock.

She has therefore applied for a loan from UGAFODE to add more stock to her shop, including sugar, rice, bread, baking flour, cooking oil, salt, etc. She is hopeful that with increased inventory, her sales will also improve, thus bettering her finances to provide for her child and also educate her up to college.

Gorreti is grateful for the financial support from the funders that will boost her. She is described as a hardworking woman. The extra member in the photo is still saving, hoping to take a loan in the next cycle. She signed the client waiver form.
