A loan helped a member to buy more clothes and shoes to sell.

Moyo Musande Group's story

Petronella is a 47-year-old woman who engages in cross-border trading. She is a widow and a mother of two children, both of whom are in school. Petronella currently resides in Zvimba, Zimbabwe. After the death of her husband, she decided to start a small business that would generate income for her family. The business has enabled her to pay her children’s school fees up to this point.

Petronella started her business six years ago. She travels to countries, such as South Africa and Zambia, so that she can stock up on clothes such as trousers, tracksuits, and shoes. Petronella resells her products in Harare.

As part of this same group, Petronella received a loan from Thrive six months ago and used the money to acquire clothes from South Africa. While she was repaying her loan, she achieved significant growth in her business. She will use her portion of this loan to increase the quantity and variety of her inventory.
