A loan helped to buy fertilisers.

Apophia's story

Apophia is a resilient farmer from Rushere. She majors in banana growing, a business which has been her main source of income for years.

Apophia opted for food crops because of their ready market due to the fact that people eat everyday. Farming has been a family income for generations, and Apophia is happy to carry it on. On harvest, she supplies the bananas to food markets in Rushere, Mbarara and Kampala which provides her with income to support her family.

With the end of the sunny season, Apophia's farm has lost fertility, which has created a fall in crop production. She has therefore applied for a loan of 3,000,000 UGX from UGAFODE to buy fertilisers for her banana plantation. She is optimistic that this will improve her farm yield in-terms of quantity and quality, thereby bringing in more returns.

Apophia sends her gratitude to the funders for the financial support that will improve her farming.
