Curtis's story

While I was growing up in Odessa Tx. during the summer of 1959 my Father taught me how to shine shoes professionally in his barber-shop so I could make my own money. I was 9 yrs. old. That experience taught me how to be independent and the memory helps me through trails of doing business today. Being in business for myself has many ups and downs, but I've learn to take the good with the bad and be a over-comer. I remember once during the summer of "68" I didn't have a job. I found a shoeshine kit with a shoe-stand on it at a Salvation Army store. I went to the old downtown Oakland Business district and went to offices to shine shoes . It was working great for about for about 6 months until I went into the wrong building (tax board). They wanted me to buy a city permit and pay taxes. My dream is to build this business to the point I can retire and still have a income.
