This is Nkoma Savings Group, located in Sembabule district. The group consists of members who engage in different economic activities with a common goal of economic growth.
Stephen is 38 and married, with two children who go to school. His main source of income is selling milk within Sembabule, a business he started five years ago. He values his business because it has sustained his family as well as educating his children. He supplements his income with small-scale farming, which also ensures food security at home. He opened a retail shop selling beverages in the trading centre, and his wife runs it. The money from the shop funds the family's daily expenses.
Through the group, Stephen has applied for a loan from UGAFODE to buy a milk cooler so that he can increase his supply of milk and preserve it for days. He is hopeful that with another cooler, he will be able to increase his sales, as well as saving a lot of money that has been going to waste when the milk goes bad. He appreciates the funders for this support, which will boost his business. Stephen is described as a hardworking man by his group colleagues.
