A loan helped to buy feed for his chickens and to buy more beehives, in order to improve his farm and income.

Gagik's story

Gagik is requesting his second Kiva loan and he is very thankful for his nice and profitable deal with lenders. He is 62 years old and lives with his wife in the city of Kapan, in the Syunik region. For many years, he worked at the Kapan city’s combine as a locksmith and then he worked as a welder. Now, as he likes to say, he enjoys farming, and he works at the local school as a military education teacher.

On his farm, Gagik still does poultry farming and beekeeping. He sells a lot of eggs and poultry to his regular customers, as well as very tasty and healing honey. All his farm products together with his land’s goods (beans, garlic, onions and peppers), he takes to the city wholesale market for sale.

Gagik is going to use this loan for the purchase of feed for his chickens, and he will also buy more beehives, which will help improve his farm and his income.

This loan is special because:

It reaches rural populations with less access to opportunity.
