A loan helped to use as additional capital for his farming business.

Alfredo's story

Alfredo is 57 years old and lives in the village of Parog-Parog, Solana, Cagayan, with his wife, Filomena. They are blessed with five children: Marierose, 25 years old, a college graduate presently working at Sowesfaco in their village; Emmanuel, 24 years old, a high school graduate; Dominador, 21 years old, a college student taking Information Technology; Julius, 18 years old, a college student taking an automotive course; C., 17 years old, also a college student taking Hotel Management.

Alfredo and Filomena are striving hard to earn income to satisfy their daily needs especially in providing for the education of their children. Alfredo works as a farmer and his crops are rice and vegetables, while his wife cooks different viands (tasty dishes) and snacks that she sells in their village.

Alfredo wants to borrow additional farming and vending capital of PHP 18,000 from Kiva lenders that he can use for the maintenance of their farming business. Their PHP 25,000 gross farming income every harvest season is not enough because of the high interest rate that traders put on their debts.

Alfredo is hoping that his loan request will be granted for it will not only assist his business but also the needs of his family. He is just hoping that, through wise farming management and patience, they will able to uplift their living conditions.
