Plumkor Community Group's story

Plumkor Community is a group of five borrowers led by Ndorbor J. K., who is 56 years old. He is married with six children aged between 9 and 27 whose educational levels range from third grade to senior university.

He is a high school graduate but could not continue to university due to poverty. He and his family live in the Plumkor Community, a very crowded community where people migrate from rural Liberia to settle. It is south of Monrovia, Liberia.

Ndorbor’s business is timber sales. He purchases timber from rural Liberia and sells on a retail basis to residents of Monrovia, Liberia. Ndorbor has been running this business for 15 years. He hopes to establish a plywood manufacturing company in Liberia. He started this business by buying furniture and later decided to get into timber sales because it is more profitable than furniture sales.

Ndorbor sometimes faces difficulties with road conditions, which can spoil timber and cause losses for the business. He needs this loan in order to purchase more timber from suppliers to make a profit.

Ndorbor dreams of giving his children a better education and getting them into business.
