A loan helped to buy a new Juki sewing machine and some packs of zippers and buttons to meet increasing demand.

Salma's story

Salma, age 44, is a married woman. She is a hardworking and brave mother who is helping her family by providing tailoring services in her community.

Being a mother, she wants to provide better facilities for her children, and this is the reason she works extremely hard to keep her children smiling.

She started sewing clothes after the birth of her two children, when she observed that her husband couldn't provide everything necessary for them. She decided to start doing tailoring work at home, and since then, she has been sewing clothes for her community.

She wants to enhance the beauty of her craft, so she would like to buy a Juki sewing machine. The professionals use this machine for tailoring because of its speed and fine performance.

She knows the techniques of tailoring very well. Her regular customers are mostly her neighbors, relatives and the local community.

She has requested a loan to buy a new Juki sewing machine and some packs of zippers and buttons to meet increasing demand.

Salma is very thankful to Kiva and its field partner BRAC Pakistan.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Pakistan.
