A loan helped a member to buy sheep for resale.

Amakene Group's story

Mariam is the woman holding onto the sheep in the picture. She is a member of the Amakene group. She is Malian, illiterate, 45 years old, and married to a farmer. She has three children aged between 10 and 16, including a daughter who attends primary school.

She has been raising sheep for over 10 years. She gets her supplies at the commune's main market, and she sells her sheep there too.

She hopes to make a larger profit when she sells her sheep and will look for bigger markets at which to sell her livestock.

Mariam is requesting a loan from RMCR so that she can buy better quality sheep and enough feed for them.

This will enable her to support her husband with the children's food, clothing, and healthcare needs.

In this group: Mariam, Binta Souleymane, Aminata, Salimata, Binta Badji, Marema, Fatouma, Aissata, Binta Antin
