Janet's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone

This is 45 year old Janet from Jui branch. She is married with 4 children between the ages of 7 months and 9 years. She started her business because she wants to take care of her family's welfare.

Janet runs a retail business in a busy market place where she sells mayonnaise, ovaltine, milk, sugar, sardines, luncheon meat, baked beans, ketchup, macaroni, eggs, sweets, soap, biscuits, baby food, seasonings, pop corn, salt and other assorted items. She has been in this business for the past 6 years now. She works10 hours per day and 6 days a week. She says her business faces no challenges.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase more mayonnaise, ovaltine, milk, sugar, sardines, luncheon meat, baked beans, ketchup, macaroni, seasonings, egg, baby food and other assorted items. Janet says that the extra income from this loan will help to repay her loan and to take care of her family In the future; she would like to see her business expand to a bigger shop.
