Peter's story

My name is Peter. I was born and raised in "North Philly", where I lived alongside countless fragile families who worked so hard for so little. My life was inevitably heading towards the same path; literally and figuratively, the essence of life itself has flashed by me. Like a trajectory missing its intended target on numerous occasions, whether by fate or coincidence.

My entrepreneurial seed sprouted in 1999. Gifted with a BIG smile, I went knocking on doors, sifting through the neighborhoods, to draw in Sunday Inquirer subscriptions and home improvement quotes. Encountering so many unique individuals has taught me to embrace both my own imperfections and uniqueness. Which in turn, enables me to observe this world in a completely different light.

In June 2003, at age 17, I had just graduated high school and felt like life was at a standstill. After deep thought, I was inspired to become a chef. For 7 years, I worked for some of the best in the world, like Susanna Foo and "Iron Chef" Morimoto. After investing so much love, sweat, and tears, I eventually got burnt out, finding that I had nothing to show other than having 'cooking skills'.

In February of 2011, I had a fresh new beginning; I got hired to cook for patients at Jefferson Hospital. On April 2013, a spiritual awakening occurred in me and I found my calling: to utilize and hone the qualities that I'm blessed with to empower the lives of others. I try to shine my light where I'm needed, giving my time back to the world, to the people, to the places and things that matter and make an impact whether its big or small.
