A loan helped to purchase improved farm inputs that will increase his farm yield.

Dabarani-Muh'd's story

Dabarani is a hard working Babban Gona maize farmer from the village of Karofi. He lives in a modest mud house with his family. Thanks to his hard work, Dabarani feeds his family with three well-balanced meals a day.

With a Babban Gona membership, Dabarani will have access to better yielding seeds, fertilizers, herbicides, and other more efficient inputs that will help him optimize his farm and attain yields of up to 3.8 metric tons per hectare. Not only is this yield 2.3 times higher than the national average in Nigeria, but it also results in an increase in earnings that are 3.5 times higher than the national average. Dabarani will use the income generated from his maize sales this season to pay his children's school fees.

Reflecting on the great experience he has had with Babban Gona so far, Dabarani is confident that with Babban Gona he will overcome poverty by securing a future for generations to come.
