A loan helped to purchase improved farm inputs that will increase farm yield.

Isiya's story

Isiya is a Babban Gona maize farmer from Richifa Sare village and resides with his family in a humble mud house. Isiya has 11 children and like other parents he wants them to have successful careers.

Previously, Isiya and his family were only able to eat 2 meals a day despite toiling for several hours on the farm. However, as a Babban Gona member, he now has access to better yielding seeds, fertilisers, herbicides and other essential inputs that will help him to efficiently optimise his farm and attain yield of up to 3.8 metric tonnes per hectare; which translates to 2 times the national average in Nigeria. This not only increases his income earnings 2.8 times the national average but also increases Isiya’s yield, ensuring that his family will never go hungry again. In his quest to provide enough food for his family and pay his children's school fees, Isiya also hopes to secure a bright future for his children.

This season, he will use the income generated from his maize sales to satisfy these personal income goals. Isiya’s greatest memory as a Babban Gona farmer was when he had exceptionally good yield. Isiya is confident that with Babban Gona his future is secure and that he will have many more great memories and amazing accomplishments together with his family.
