Lydie is the woman with her hands on the bag of peanuts. She is a 46-year-old Malian merchant, married and the mother of six children; five are in school and ages 6 to 21 years old.
Lydie gets her supplies at the market in her area every week, and stores them. Then she resells her products at the nearest trade fairs. She earns at least 25,000 CFA francs in monthly revenues. She does fine, but to expand her business she needs more money. Given her lack of funding, she is requesting a financial grant (loan) from the microfinance institution RMCR Mali with the goal of increasing the quantity of bags (of grain) and earning more so she can provide for her family's needs and help her husband.
Lydie's dream is to become a large merchant and to be independent.
