A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize.

Elisha's Group's story

Elisha, pictured above, has been a farmer for 11 years, and is now proud to represent his group of 12 farmers in Matete District. He is 30 years old, is not married and has two children.

Elisha likes to think of himself as a very resourceful person. He has been working alongside One Acre Fund since 2015 and decided to represent his group because he likes being a leader. He says that being part of the One Acre Fund community has meant that he has been able to consistently feed his family. Elisha plans to use the profits from this coming season to buy more land to cultivate.

In total, Elisha’s Group will receive inputs to cultivate 12 acres of land. Given that a member of the group will also be purchasing a solar light, with this loan, the group will also receive one solar light.
