A loan helped to invest in 500kg of local yak wool to dye and weave into traditional Tibetan nhambu fabric.


Dolma's story

Dolma began his business Chamtsee to preserve Tibetan culture and create sustainable livelihoods among the ex-nomad community. Chamtsee, meaning compassion, now employs 10 Tibetan artisans. Chamtsee provides craft, literacy, and other training to promote both the economic and cultural value of traditional artisan work.

A loan of $8,000 will allow Dolma to invest in 500kg of yak and sheep wool. This wool will be used to craft felt hats and hand-woven scarves for the international market. Dolma recently began working with experts in natural dyes, hat making, and scarf making to ensure his products are the highest quality and marketable around the world. He hopes Chamtsee products will eventually reach the international market.
