Wesleyan Primary School Kenema Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT) is very pleased to present to you this group of schoolteachers from the eastern city of Kenema. They have come to SMT to apply for a loan in order to meet their most immediate and pressing financial needs. Some will use this loan to pay school fees for their children, others will buy plots of land, some will continue with their ongoing building project, while others will invest in businesses and other projects. At the end of each month, they can easily repay the loan using their monthly salaries. Their bursar, who is directly responsible for handling the deductions from their salaries, repays SMT and the Kiva lenders on their behalf.

Mabel, 41 years old, is the featured leader of this group of schoolteachers. She is married and has three children who are going to school. Mabel has been in the teaching profession for 12 years. She has applied for this loan in order to pay school fees for her children and to help with an ongoing building project.
