A loan helped to buy a solar water-heating system.

Hazem's story

Hazem is a 35-year-old married man from Dier Al-Balah, Gaza Strip. He lives with his wife and three children in a small house. As an employee in the public sector, he earns a low income. This income barely covers all the family's needs; he has other work but it still is not enough. He has a rickshaw as well.

Because he is not able to save enough money, Hazem took a USD loan from FATEN to buy a solar water-heating system. Palestinians use water boilers that use either gas or gasoline to heat the water, which can be dangerous, expensive, and inefficient. This will help him provide hot water without using electricity, which is much more expensive and not always available because of the regular blackouts in Gaza Strip and the siege.
