A loan helped to buy fresh foods such as tomatoes to sell.

Macu's story

Macu is a single woman living in Bundibugyo, Uganda. She deals in selling fresh foods as a vendor in the markets and gets additional income from growing and selling cocoa mainly on family land. She is very hardworking, but is challenged by inadequate finances to buy enough stock to serve the ever-increasing number of customers. Also, her products are very perishable, given the fact that she does not have a preservative machine to keep her goods fresh.

She has hopes of building a permanent house and also to support her parents. Macu received a loan to buy fresh foods like tomatoes and eggplant to sell during the Christmas season time. She again needs another loan to buy fresh foods such as tomatoes to sell.

This loan is special because:

It targets extremely rural populations.
