A loan helped improve the shop with better shelves and stock.

George's story

I grew up in the village, schooled there for both my primary and secondary education. I then went to Nairobi and lived with my family at Kaloleni Estate of Nairobi’s Eastlands. I did my tertiary education in Accoutancy, Project planning and Management and later pursued a degree in Development Studies. I grew up in a big family with fewer resources. This developed in me the ability and determination to be self-reliant.
My experiences of my youth taught me self-reliance. I started a cereals business to supplement my family expense even as I was engaged in fulltime employment. I have since left my employment to concentrate on fulltime business and drive the growth.
